“I created the JSR Company as a way to empower creativity and individuality. I aim to offer a powerful light on the importance of dance in our community and culture.”

In 2010 JSR established the Judith Sánchez Ruíz | JSR Company in New York City, which focuses on interdisciplinary and site-specific performances, seeking to produce alternative contemporary dance through collaborations with composers as well as visual and media artists. Some of her most significant works are ”And they forgot to Love,” “I will stay with you even if you are not here”, “Micro Revolution,” and “Encaje.”

Sánchez’s works have received grants and commissions supporting her through her career, most importantly from the Australia Department of Culture and the Arts, (2012); The Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Cuban Artists Fund, CAF, (2010-2011); The American Music Center’s Live Music for Dance program, (2010); Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, (2006, 2010); Baryshnikov Arts Center: Martha Duffy Resident Artist Spring (2011); Meet the Composer’s Creative Connections Program with the Department of Cultural Affairs, New York State Council on the Arts (2008).
